The Guestbook
We had a lovely time in Marrakech and have Riad Azzar to thank for much of that too. The owners made us feel really welcome, offering help and advice, and booking restaurants and day trips for us. It was such a relaxing place away from the bustling dusty streets of the souks, but so hard to believe we were merely a street away. The gorgeous leafy roof garden and plunge pool was very welcome after a hard day’s haggling, and we really enjoyed eating on the terrace of La Fondouk, a gorgeous tagine washed down with a glass of full bodied Moroccan red. Eating in the night market was a fantastic experience too, rubbing shoulders with the locals and enjoying the snake charmers and henna tattooists in the square. Thank you Marrakech.

We stayed at Riad Azzar for the final nights of our hooneymoon and it was divine! Such a wonderful little place and close to the Medina and main square. The owners Maryck and Cees were wonderful, helping us out with recommendations. Having eaten tagine and couscous for about 10 nights in a row we were keen to try somewhere new. La Villa was an excellent restaurant – great French food with a good set menu. Romantic setting with funky music and good service - a wonderful break from typical Moroccan restaurants!
I would also highly recommend you have dinner in the Riad one night. All we mentioned was that we were a little bored of all the heavy food and that we were happy to eat meat. They then created a wonderful meal for us with different types of salads, the best tagine we had eaten and a great dessert. The service was wonderful - all candle lit and romantic, with the sound of the main square buzzing away in the distance. A true meal in a hotel to remember!
