Getting there
Hôtel de la Paix has a prime location in the centre of Siem Reap, just a short stroll from the old French quarter of town. The eighth wonder of the world, Angkor Wat, is just seven kilometres up the road.
- Planes Fly into Siem Reap International Airport (www.cambodia-airports.com), just seven kilometres from Hôtel de la Paix (a 15-minute drive). Taxis are available at the airport for US$7 or the hotel can arrange a transfer by Lexus LS300 for US$17.
- Automobiles Self-drive is not advised given the manic traffic conditions. Chartering a chauffered car from capital Phnom Penh is an affordable option; the drive takes five or six hours.
- Others Fast boats connect Siem Reap and Phnom Penh (US$35) for those with a zest for adventure on the high seas (well, high lake).
