Spend your first night as a married couple getting back to nature in an Upper Branch Tree House room, ten metres above the ground among a mature manuka grove. With vistas out over mountains, sea and the hotel's own deer park, the pad's super-romantic and intimate, and the comfy bed, sexy couple's spa bath and cosy wood-burning fire add to the luxe, indulgent mood.
Need to know
The hotel can arrange both small-scale weddings (just the bride and groom) or larger celebrations that take up the whole property (but only if you book it out exclusively). The maximum number of guests the hotel can accommodate overnight is 28 (including twin shares and rollaway beds). Hapuku can also direct you to all the wedding services you'll need in the area, from florists to photographers, although they don't offer an on-site wedding planner or provide services themselves. Marquees aren't allowed on the property, so any outdoor wedding planned at the lodge will need a contingency plan, given NZ's often volatile weather.
Inspiration
The coast-meets-country setting with mountain and ocean views, fairytale treetop rooms and chance of a little whale watching on the side all add up to a pretty unbeatable experience. The lodge is also ideal for honeymooners getting away from it all after the big day.
