The Guestbook
It’s worth flying to Dublin just to shop at Brown Thomas and Avoca, both of which are an easy and lovely walk from the Dylan. Brown Thomas has a restaurant on the third floor for ladies who lunch in their Hermes and Chanel, named 'The Restaurant'. The restaurant serves mini cupcakes and light salads, and is a fascinating place for people watching.

I would recommend the Dublin bicycle scheme -- there is a rack near the hotel (on the canal), and for 2 Euros you can join the scheme for 3 days -- the roads are wide and safe, and you save on taxi fares. As regards to the hotel, we asked to change rooms as the first room on the 3rd floor was small and dark, the room on the 2nd floor (201) was lovely.

Whilst the hotel is a little walk into town, it's a very pleasant one which takes you along the main street and, if you go far enough, right up to St Stephens Green. We found some excellent eateries while we stayed at the Dylan. Our first night was spent at the very lovely Il Segreto, a little piano bar/restaurant with very good cocktails, extremely friendly service, a great varied menu and lively atmosphere. And all for reasonable prices. A must is to have a drink in the bar at The Sheraton Hotel, just opposite Il Segreto. The whisky bar is very good and the oyster restaurant looked lovely although we didn't try it. If you want to treat yourself one night then head to the Cellar Bar and Restaurant in the Merrion Hotel, the bar and restaurant are both in the old basement vaults, great scenery, fantastic food but all at a rather high price. A treat night.

There is a great restaurant around the corner called The Chop House, which is a converted pub that serves lovely food. I recommend the oysters - they were beautiful. Toners on Baggot Street is a brilliant traditional Irish Pub that has the best Guinness, not to be missed!

The Dylan is as good as the official reviewer says it is, absolutely lovely. And even though a hotel report isn't supposed to happen here, i just have to mention the underfloor heating in the bathroom, in case the official report didn't!
We were only there two nights but visited two fantastic restaurants. Cheerful, busy and medium pricing with fabulous food was Il Segreto. For a higher priced amazing food outing head to the Cellar Bar and Restaurant below the Merrion Hotel. Absolutely gorgeous, especially if you like fish. Both places well worth a visit!

Thank you for all your help in arranging the Dylan for us. An absolutely stunning boutique hotel where nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect for people who want to dwell in the leafy, upmarket suburbs but also want to wander into town for a livelier scene. We recommend the Expresso Bar right across the road from the Dylan for an amazing brunch over the weekend papers, the intimate Bang Cafe is only a 10-minute walk away (the pre-theatre menu at €22 for two courses is really reasonable and gorgeous food. (Great vegetarian options as well.) The Hugh Lane Gallery is definitely worth a visit and entry is free.

I have always struggled with a great place to stay in Dublin and the Dylan was perfect. I was travelling for business and they made it an effortless stay. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and their recommendation for lunch at The Chop House was perfect for a sunny (!) day in Dublin.

Our stay at Dylan was perfect – we cannot fault the hotel or their staff and we had a fantastic stay. Would recommend Bloom Brasserie, just around the corner at 11 Upper Baggot Street (+353 (0)1 668 7170). We had an excellent dinner there, and it's great value for the quality of the food.

I took my girlfriend to Dylan hotel for a weekend break. It certainly did not disappoint. I travel a lot, and this is perhaps the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The decor is very orginal without being over the top, and the food is fantastic. The staff were faultless in their service and for the price (which I felt was reasonable), this was a very good experience for the money. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. For a good dinner spot, go to the acclaimed One Pico restaurant.

We had a delicious meal, cooked with lots of local ingredients, at Bang Café at 11 Merrion Row, a very popular trendy brasserie. I would recommend booking, it was really busy even on a Monday evening.
Also, the Expresso Bar café opposite the Dylan was lovely. Banana bread to die for! Great if you were too late for breakfast in the hotel – as we were. Beds in the Dylan were super comfortable by the way!

There were two restaurants worth visiting: the two-Michelin starred Patrick Guilbaud in the Merrion Hotel, which is in a lovely room with a good value set lunch (€50 a person). The second is The Winding Stair (on the quay just north of the Liffey), which was packed and requires booking ahead. It's also worth trekking down to the new developments apace in Hanover Quay: it has an early Auckland Viaduct Harbour feel.

We had our breath taken away by the Dylan. We were there for our honeymoon, and everything from the staff, to the room, to the food was fantastic.
While there, they had a tall ship and European market on the riverbank. I understand it is every June, and provided a great atmosphere and some lovely food too. Many people advised us to use the hop-on, hop-off bus. I would only do this is you have more time, as it is expensive for just two attractions. I would recommend people to see Kilmainham Gaol, an enlightening, if harrowing account of dark Dublin history.
If I were to go to Dublin again, I would struggle to stay anywhere else. I cannot praise it enough. Wonderful.

I can recommend an excellent vegetarian restaurant called Juice – we stumbled across it late sun evening. A wide variety of choice and interesting main courses! Prices are reasonable, compared to other restaurants as food and drink in Dublin is very expensive. Enjoy!
