Getting there
Costa Lanta is snuggled on the quiet part of Klong Dao Beach, a two-kilometre stretch of pristine sand, in the north of Koh Lanta island west of the Krabi coast.
- Planes The closest airport is Krabi International (www.krabiairportonline.com). There are regular flights from Bangkok and you can also fly direct from Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Malaysia, Australia and several European countries. You can also fly into Trang, often cheaper for domestic routes than nearby Krabi.
- Trains See more of the Thai countryside by catching the train from Bangkok to Trang (www.railway.co.th) on the mainland, 90 kilometres from Costa Lanta. The resort can organise a private van transfer from the station for THB3,000.
- Automobiles It is about two hours’ drive from Krabi Airport, 80 kilometres away, or Trang Airport, and the journey includes a short ferry crossing. Costa Lanta can arrange a private van transfer for THB2,500 each way.
- Others There are daily ferries from Ao Nang Krabi and Phuket via Koh Phi Phi; it takes about two to three hours to Koh Lanta. Departure times are seasonal and dependent on weather so check before you travel. Costa Lanta is just 10 minutes' away from the ferry piers.
