Chani
Perched on Ithaca’s isthmus, with views across to Kefalonia, Chani is a restaurant and café-bar with a menu dominated by meat and cheese. Look out for kleftiko lamb, roast goat and yiouvetsi – an Ithacan speciality with veal and spaghetti. The restaurant is only open for dinner (except on Sundays, when it serves lunch) and it’s closed in winter. Snacks and drinks with a view are served from the bar.

The decor at this smart portside restaurant is gently nautical and the menu features light Greek dishes, together with a wine list boasting Smith favourites, Sigalas Asyrtiko and Armaya Skouras. On warm evenings, nab one of the two stone booths outside.
