Darley’s
The modern Australian menu, created by executive chef Hugh Whitehouse, utilises carefully sourced, seasonal ingredients and produce from the local area. Perfect for a special night out.

Silk’s Brasserie
Entertainer Reg Livermore opened a restaurant on this site in 1991, but current owners Graham and Erin Silk took over three years later and renamed it Silk’s Brasserie. Sit at the Parisian-style bar before you dine – it’s open for lunch and dinner and has a European-inspired menu.

Vulcan’s
Celebrated chef Phillip Searle makes good use of the 100-year-old wood-fired oven, slow cooking the meats for his main courses. The menu has a multitude of flavours from Europe to Asia, but you must save room for dessert: the upside-down quince cake is superb.

The Carrington
This beautiful old hotel dates back to 1882 and most of the grandeur remains. For a low-key drink, try the Old City Bank Bar, with its adjoining outdoor area. Upstairs the Baroque Bar and Nightclub has been refurbished and opens Friday and Saturday nights.

Although principally known for its accommodation, this guesthouse cocktail bar is a great place to meet for a quiet drink. For the past 30 years, The Clarendon has also been a live music and performance venue, with some great acts appearing.

Not much has changed at this art deco classic, where you can have a Devonshire tea, waffles with caramel sauce and some of the handmade truffles and chocolates that have made this eatery famous.

Whisk & Pin Store & Cafe
Pastry chef Kerry Caloyannidis has built a strong business around making gourmet muesli and biscuits. Now, in the old post office building, she’s opened a cafe that serves breakfast; muesli (obviously), pancakes and house baked beans, and for lunch, delicious salads and sandwiches.
