Chiselled über-chef Todd English has a branch of his much-admired Italian chain, Olives, very close by on K Street (+1 202 452 1866). Twigs (+1 202 737 1333) in the Capital Hilton hotel is a casual American eatery that often attracts the city’s political elite for an informal nibble. Georgia Browns (+1 202) 393 4499) on 15th Street serves classic Southern dishes, frequently with a live jazz soundtrack. The Hay-Adam’s Hotel’s Lafayette restaurant (+1 202 638 2570) offers exceptional formal fine dining, overlooking the White House.
