Local restaurants
Nobu (+1 212 219 500) – which De Niro also has a stake in – is just down the road at the corner of Franklin and Hudson and is still serving immaculate sushi 10 years after it opened. Assuming you can get a table, naturally. 66 (+1 212 925 0202) on Church Street offers creative Chinese cuisine that's as impressive as the design, with foie gras dim sum and lobster noodles on the modern menu. The Odeon (+1 212 233 0507), on West Broadway is a local institution, and serves some of the best burgers in town to south Manhattan's champagne-chinking set.
Local bars
Attached to the Tribeca Grand Hotel on Sixth Avenue, The Sanctum (+1 212 519 6800) is spoken of in hushed Manhattanite tones for its cocktail innovations, stylish decor and fashionista clientele.

Diary
May De Niro's Tribeca Film Festival (yes, he basically runs the neighbourhood), attracts hundreds of thousands of cinephiles each year.
