Overlooking midtown Manhattan's Bryant Park, with Times Square but a stroll away, the dark, masculine Gothic-Revival exterior of this hip hotel gives way to a striking red reception, with soothing brown and lilac contemporary bedrooms. Hotel bar: Cellar Bar is the hotel’s 3,000-square-foot subterranean hang-out, and offers an open bar service between 5pm and 6pm each weekday.
