- No pets. Appropriately, each of the hotel's ten floors is dedicated to a category of the Dewey Decimal System.

- All have similar decor, but books and art relate to the room’s theme, such as poetry, mysteries or fairy tales. The Love Room is huge, with an outdoor terrace.
- Packing tips
- Specs for reading all the great books – but if you forget yours, head to Selima Optique on Madison Avenue or Bleecker Street to buy the coolest pair in school.
- Also
- The first-floor lounge is where you have breakfast, and the hotel provides free orange juice, coffee and biscuits all day, with wine and nibbles early evening.

- The Bookmarks Lounge is on the 14th floor. Try the Bookmark cocktail, made with Appleton Estate rum and passionfruit juice topped off with Moët, or a Hemingway, a Great Gatsby, a Capote – or a Jackie Collins.
