Mr & Mrs Smith have just returned from a trip to this Suffolk boutique hotel, and just as soon as they’ve unpacked their original seascape paintings and bottles of Adnams bitter, a full account of their stay in the UK will be with you. In the meantime, just to whet your wanderlust, here’s a quick postcard from Milsoms Kesgrave Hall…
Hidden away at the end of a long, winding driveway, Milsoms Kesgrave Hall is the kind of rustic sanctuary that you usually only read about in 1950s novels – the sort of country house in which gaggles of fresh-faced pre-teens rush around having adventures in the woods and vegetable gardens before partaking in sundown jugs of lemonade on the verdant lawn. A mess hall for US airmen during World War II, Kesgrave Hall later became a boys’ prep school before it was transformed into an upmarket hotel. Now, thanks to its beautifully designed rooms, gourmet dining and buzzing cocktail bar, it has created a big boutique splash in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, and has become the area’s focal point for style-seeking weekenders.
