My husband Brian and I stayed in the Mezzanine Suite, which was gorgeous. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself was pristine, decor beautiful and the garden very inviting. We had a meal in the restaurant which was first class - our compliments to the chef. Everything about the hotel was perfect and I recommend a visit - it is a perfect location. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
Continuing my juants to London for cultural stimulus, this time a visit to the Cadogen Hall, I checked in to the Rockwell. For those of you who know the Earl's Court area, there is a plethora of hotels with Georgian pillared fronts that lok inviting from the outside and reception area but very quickly take on the 'mutton dressed as lamb' mantle once you open the bedroom doors. Not so the Rockwell, its public areas are elegant and airy and the bedrooms large and well appointed, if a little reflective of major chain hotels. For Blue Disc collectors, Benjamin Britten lived for a while two doors down with Alfred Hitchcock a resident a block or so away. If you walk behind the hotel you discover a little hidden-away residential area of lovely houses, small streets and a great number of ethnic restaurants beofre you then rock up on Earl's Court Road and all its bustle. Top tip: Earl's Court tube is by far the nearest to the Rockwell.
