The food is fantastic at Gidleigh Park, but its worth noting that the full tasting menu is the only option in the evening. If you want something a little more low key and less filling, then its probably worth booking something in one of the restaurants in Chagford which is only a mile or so away.
Such a beautiful hotel with attentive service and gorgeous food – we never felt the need to leave bar a walk around the grounds.Satnav-addicts beware however it pays to heed the hotel's advice and take the slightly longer route through Chagford Village or you will be faced with a very narrow stone bridge a mile or so down a single track lane and a reverse that isn't for the faint-hearted!
Magical scenery, views and walks from the hotel – we walked onto Dartmoor, to a stone circle, which provided our children (4 and 5) with endless fun speculating what it might have been built for (from parties to stargazing to burying people...)
