Poolside: Putahracsa's rooms and villas surround the rectangular main infinity pool, which is lined with wooden walkways, reeds, and parasol-shaded day-beds.
Children: Under-12s stay for free and get 50 per cent off all meals and a children's menu is available in the restaurant. Cots are free for under-twos. Babysitting can be arranged at THB 500 an hour.
Also: Yoga sessions are free to all guests. Smoking allowed outside.

In the know

Our favourite rooms: Coordinated, clean and comfortable, all the hotel's rooms present a soothing combination of beige and white. A few steps from the pool, the Silksand Rooms radiate a homely, beachy feel, with their cushion-laden round rattan armchairs and sofas on their outdoor terrace. The eight two-floor Sansky Villas offer more space, and share their own pool, but, if you're after a private waterhole, complete with alfresco Jacuzzi, plump for one of the hotel's new Jacuzzi-boasting Oceanbed Pool villas at the beach and enjoy the attention of your own private butler..
Packing tips: The manuscript for that novel you've been planning to finish/start. Puttahracsa's serene, inspiring surroundings will help get those creative juices bubbling.

Food & drink

Hotel restaurant: Next door to the hotel, contemporary Thai and Fusion food is served with style at Nahb Talae. Beach-hut café-style Sala Monsoon provides tasty tapas treats during the day. Alternatively, Oceanside offers terrace dining on the shores of the Gulf.
Dress code: Crisp, clean and co-ordinated.
Top table: Up your romance levels at a table by the window in Nahb Talae – at sufficient distance from the door for the best people-watching.
Last orders: Nahb Talae closes its kitchens at 11.30pm but drinks and light meals are available in Sala Monsoon as long as there's a guest to enjoy them, generally until 12.30am.
Room service: All restaurant menus are available in rooms from 7am until midnight.
Hotel bar: Sala Monsoon – a round, thatch-roofed chill-out zone – is the focal point of Puttahracsa's social life. The banquettes lining the walls are ideal for sophisticated cocktail-lounging. At night, the ceiling is enchantingly illuminated by embedded fairy
