Mr & Mrs Smith have a trip to this Moroccan boutique hotel in the diary, and just as soon as they’ve unpacked their tagines and tadelakt, a full account of their stay in Marrakech will be with you. In the meantime, just to whet your wanderlust, here’s a quick snapshot of Villa Margot Marrakech…
Named after owners Bruno and Virginie’s daughter, who’s queen of the house and loved to bits by its staff, Villa Margot is located just outside Marrakech, on your way to the Atlas Mountains. Although it’s just a 10-minute drive from all that carpet-haggling and donkey-dodging in the Medina, it might as well be in another place entirely. Ibiza to be exact. What with its fancy pool in the shape of a figure eight, its stylish hammam and some seriously sleek interiors, it has far more in common with the rock-star residences of Spain’s ultimate party isle than with the traditional riads a few miles up the road. Only a year old – the villa was built from scratch – it already has a solid fan base, and a guestbook full of repeat bookings. Stay here once and you’re bound to be clamouring to come back, too.
