Local restaurants
Ekali is is a little limited restauarnt-wise, but upscale suburb Kiffisia is a 10-minute drive away and in its centre, the buzzing Kefalari Square, is lined with liuxe bars and high-end eateries. If you're eager for more modern art after Life Gallery, then head to the Semiramis Hotel, where ever-changing displays await in glorious technicolour (the owner's one of the top ten collectors in the world); we clocked a Jeff Koons on our visit.
Worth getting out of bed for
In terms of culture, Athens pretty much invented it, so head to the city centre for your fill of museums, classical ruins, and tick-box attractions. For shopping without the stress of the centre, try boutique-lined Levidou Street in Kiffisia for a quick credit-card workout. If that doesn't slake your sartorial thirst, the Mall in Maroussi is the second biggest in Greece and provides a home to both high-street and haute couture.
