There are two little eateries in the village (La Louisa and La Papet II), but slightly further afield in Vers Pont du Gard, chamber d'hôtes Lisa M (+33 (0)4 66 22 92 12) serves modern Provençal cuisine in a charming vaulted cellar.

Don't miss the Saturday morning market in Uzès – at its best before 9am, when the crowds descend. You'll find farmers'-market delights such as fish, local cheeses and fruit and veg, as well as some excellent ceramics and homewares. The hotel has bikes available to explore the local countryside, and golf, tennis, horse riding and canoeing can all be arranged in the area.
