- Low season €345; high season €485; Christmas, €890, including Continental breakfast, airport transfers and service. There’s an extra government tax of €18–€43 a night, depending on the time of year.

- Midday, but the hotel is happy for guests to stay later, subject to availability.

- In-room massage/beauty treatments, yoga, tropical gardens, gym, nearby tennis court, library, DVD selection, free WiFi throughout, boat and car for hire. In rooms: flatscreen TV, DVD player, Bose sound system, minibar, Acqua Di Parma toiletries.
- Poolside
- La Banane’s dense tropical gardens envelope the two-tiered pool area, which curves sinuous around a small palm-shaded island.
- Children
- Ankle-biters under three stay free in baby cots; extra beds for under-12s are €50 a night (€70 if they’re older). Babysitting (€12 an hour) needs two weeks’ notice. There’s a supply of games and comics and a children’s menu can be provided.

- Small pets are welcome. There’s a 10-night minimum stay over the Christmas period. A deposit of three-nights’ cost is required when you book.

- Our favourite rooms Three of La Banane’s bungalows overlook the pool, and boast terraces with day-beds and showers opening directly onto tropical gardens or a little patio. All the hotel’s bedrooms have brightly painted four-poster beds with crisp, white linens and furnishings in hues to match the theme colour of the room.
- Packing tips
- The thick foliage of the jungle gardens attracts mosquitoes, so be sure to have lashings of repellent to hand. Don’t bother bulking up your baggage with beach towels, you’ll find some in your bungalow.
- Also
- The nearby Lorient Bay beach offers dozens of enticing activities that the hotel can help arrange, including island excursions, sailing, snorkeling, fishing and jet-skiing, and there’s golf not far away too.

- La Banane has no restaurant of its own, but the African-themed French dining lounge next door, K’Fé Massai, is one of St Barth’s finest eateries and provides rooms service to the hotel.

- Fun and fruity.
- Top table
- Call for a cocktail and make a beeline for the lounge chair set above the two-tiered pool area; you’ll feel like the king of the jungle.
- Last orders
- K’fé Massai is open until 11pm; La Banane’s bar is open throughout the day and empties its ice buckets at 9pm.
- Room service
- You can order a full menu from K’Fé Massai between 7pm and 9pm.
- Hotel bar
- La Banane’s cocktail bar is located in the elegant poolside library, with a long communal table, cosy sofas, and a sophisticated lounge-ish atmosphere.
