If you fancy a 'stroll' down the mountain, a well-needed carb fix just over half-way down from the top at Sonnalm is the place to head for. It's a traditional restaurant called Berghotel Blaickner's Sonnalm (+43 (0)6542 73262) besides the top of Sonnalm lift, and has a gorgeous flower-adorned terrace overlooking the stunning Zell am See panorama. Kaiserswarm is the food to go for – chopped-up thick pancake with apple or cherry compote. Rest assured the most arduous trekking has been done, as a meandering gravel track leads you back down the mountain to the town itself, so a local clean fresh beer can be indulged in. Perfection.
