The Guestbook
Lovely hotel, perfect location, staff very helpful and friendly. Stayed in a Standard room which was fine – very comfy beds. Free cocktails were a nice touch and lovely breakfast with a glass of champagne very nice also. Would definitely recommend and would love to come back and stay in one of the rooms with a balcony. Had no problem parking the car either. Eat nearby at the Restaurant Bar & Grill which was very buzzy: good atmosphere and great food. Tunbridge Wells was a great area for an overnight stay.

Our third stay here and once again exceptional. We really love this hotel. The staff are all so friendly and helpful all round. Great cocktails and food in One Restaurant. Will definitely come back again. Had a really nice lunch in the Ragged Trousers on the Pantiles nearby. Also Palio, a fantastic, real Italian restaurant – not too far either. Well recommended.

My husband and I stayed at the Brew House Hotel for one night whilst visiting friends in Tunbridge Wells. The location of the hotel is excellent, sitting between the Pantiles and High Street with easy access to the station and parking on a first-come, first-served basis. The room was clean and fresh with plenty of storage space and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We stayed in room 105 which has a huge bathroom but sadly no bath as it seems to be fitted out for disabled guests, so do specify if you are booking and want a bath rather than a shower. We were offered free cocktails in the bar between 5.30pm and 6.30pm and the barman was kind enough to allow us to take them up to the room as I was on an unexpected business call. We both had the hearty full English breakfast in the morning which was cooked freshly to order and enough to satisfy until our dinner that evening. All in all, a very pleasant stay with a great night's sleep and a room I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

We booked the Brew House as we were off to a wedding in Tunbridge Wells, and were really happy with our stay. The reception area is rather uninspiring: a small desk next to a staircase, but don't despair as the rooms themselves are kitted out to the hilt with techno glass in the bathroom, a huge tub and nice little touches like Jelly Babies on the pillows. The Mr & Mrs Smith offer of a champagne breakfast helped the celebrations of the weekend start with a pop, and the comfy beds meant we could sink into sleep after a very tiring day of bridesmaid and usher duties. The hotel is on the doorstep of the Pantiles and all the swanky shops that TW has to offer, so it's a cross between a retreat and a retail therapy mission. Just my sort of weekend.

Our stay in the Brew House Hotel was superb. Our room with a balcony (102) was exceptional and I think it's identical to room 103, recommended by Mr Mrs Smith. I saw into a couple of other rooms as they were being cleaned and they all looked excellent, but our room did look like it was just a little bit extra special. Our biggest recommendation for people staying in Tunbridge Wells is to take an eight mile drive to Scotney Castle Gardens. This garden really is the most romantic location my wife and I have been to for some time. Take a nice picnic with you and make your stay that extra bit special.

A fabulous two-day stay over our wedding anniversary. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and professional – we felt we had made a whole set of new friends. Room 102 was a delight – loved the smart glass. Breakfast and dinner were perfect. We will be going again.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Brew House in Tunbridge Wells between Christmas and New Year. Whilst there, we enjoyed a sublime lunch at Thackerays. An incredible value set lunch with three courses for £17.50 and wine recommendations with every course. Would highly recommend and now I just want to go back for the evening Chef's taster menu!

We stayed at the Brew House and loved it and will definitely be back! 'Woods' produce store and cafe/restaurant which was 5 mins from the hotel was lovely, had a really nice lunch there, would def recommend!

The Brew House hotel is a gorgeous, stylish boutique hotel in pretty Tunbridge Wells. If you like a hotel that's cool, sophisticated and a well kept secret this is a perfect option. Ask to have the full English breakfast in your room on your private deck/terrace. Nip up the road to the wonderful bar in Hotel du Vin or a less traditional but hot curry at across the road in the Pantiles at Kirchon or Masala!

This hotel was excellent from the moment we arrived. Welcoming staff at reception and in the brilliant restaurant (don't bother going anywhere else!). The rooms were modern and very comfortable - We still are wondering how the frosted glass works!
Would recommend Woods Restaurant in The Pantiles for a lunch outside people watching.
The village of Cranbrook is worth a visit for it's architecture and oldie worldie feel as well as a great little kitchen shop.
Although small it is worth the detour into East Sussex to visit Great Dixter, the home and garends of the late Christopher Lloyd - inspiring for any keen gardener or learner alike.
Visiting the area has made us want to come back and am sure we will be back to the Brew House Hotel.

Not so much a hidden gem as it is a very highly rated restaurant, but we booked a table at Thackeray's Restaurant at the London Road (+44 (0)1892 511921) on a Friday night and couldn't believe the value for money. The restaurant itself is very charming, set in the oldest house in Tunbridge, tastefully renovated, with plenty of waiting staff on hand to look after you. Given that the food is near Michelin-star quality (it held a Michelin star for 3 years till 2006) we had three courses, wine (my partner had a cocktail), coffee and petits fours and the bill came to less than £100 including a tip. We were eating from the Market Menu (a slimmed-down version of the full menu, still including the likes of lobster lasagne and steak though). We actually chose desserts from the main menu instead of the Market Menu but they didn't charge us extra. Can't recommend it enough.

Our stay in Tunbridge Wells was as relaxing as we'd hoped for but we are still talking about that lazy lunch we had The Ragged Trousers pub in the Pantiles.
The food was homely, scumptious and plenty to statisfy our grumbling stomachs.

Out and about: we went up to Lamberhurst Vineyard. A lovely little village, even in the middle of winter. A lovely wintry walk around the vineyards – fantastic views – then back to the shop for some tastings. We tasted eight wines and you absolutely have to taste the divine Nectar dessert wine – just like elderflower cordial and not like any other dessert wine I've ever tasted.
To the east of TW, there's some magnificent countryside and some gorgeous villages: Lamberhurst, Cranbrook, Goudhurst. In addition, Bewl Water is a great spot for a walk.
Eating out: The hotel's restaurant serves up wonderful English fare. The wine list is compact but decent and the service is relaxed to say the least. But if you're staying upstairs, who cares?
Less than a two-minute walk away, at the end of the Pantiles, is Woods Restaurant & Bar. Styled like a Browns, the delicious food was local as was the wine. The service was discreet and the bill more than acceptable.

The hotel made it the perfect anniversary. Room 205 is lovely – very large with a gorgeous bathroom and wet room rainfall shower. The staff were super-friendly, the barman knew his wines, and the food in the restaurant was very good. We had a lovely meal at Brasserie Blanc and heard good things about the Hotel Du Vin bistro (you need to book). Thoroughly recommend the Chink In Your Armour massage at the Royal Day Spa which is a few minutes' walk away.

We had a lovely day wandering around Tunbridge Wells, great retail therapy options from gardens to clothes to antiques. Excellent lunch at Carluccio and tried to book dinner at Hotel du Vin but to no avail and judging by the number of smart cars parked outside not surprising. TW not too good on wine bars but we managed to book a table at Signor Franco for dinner at 8.30. Started well but it was busy being Sat and we did not get the main course until 9.45!!

If you get the chance, definitely have a meal in the hotel restaurant – the food and service are amazing! There are a wealth of shops and restaurants within an easy 5–10 minutes walk of the hotel. Bear in mind that Saturday lunchtimes get really busy and all the restaurants we tried to get into were all queueing out the door at 1pm. A gastro-pub not to be missed is the Black Pig, which is near the station. It's a really comfortable and welcoming bar, with a fantastic menu that includes all-local produce. The wine list is also extensive and the staff are more than happy to help advise you on the right choice. A three-course meal with wine was about £40 a head, but is was most definitely worth it!

Awesome hotel - agree with Mr and Mrs S on room 103 and the clear/translucent glass is great (as seen on grand designs, and great fun!)... There's a top Chinese restaurant just up the road (it's on the London road, called IQ) and just lazing around the shops on a Saturday afternoon was really great. This is probably one of the nicest hotel's that I've ever stayed in and at only an hour out of London (and just a short walk from the train station) - we're looking forward to getting back!

We were told that Signor Franco was the place to eat in Tunbridge Wells. We followed advice but were rather disappointed. It's up a staircase bedecked with signed photos of film stars, we were impressed they'd all been there. It had good points in that it appeared to be run and staffed by a team that have probably been together for 30 or 40 years but the food was pretty average, whereas the prices weren't. Our white wine was barely chilled, but the room we were sitting in was! The dinner we had in the restaurant at The Brew House Hotel was one of the best meals I've had in years. Stay in, don't go out!
