What I liked

Beautiful restored farmhouse is a glorious remote location, perfect for a relaxing and romantic break...staff are extremely helpful and will go out of their way to help but if you expect lots of staff indulging your every need then this is a very different experience. Le Mas has a fantastic restaurant set in the grounds and next to the farmhouse where the food is fabulous. There are lots of sporting opportunities with tennis, cycling and boules, but lazing by the pool is simply the best way to enjoy this perfect little escape.

What could be better

Recognising it's not a 5 star hotel but there could be more attention to detail e.g. clearing glasses, towels from previous evening... avoid August if you want a more grown up experience and no children.

Local recommendations

Although the restaurant at Le Mas is closed on Sunday night and Monday there is no need to worry... just 4kms away is the fantastic village of Eygalieres with many great restaurants.  I can especially recommend Brassiere Bru (brassiere to the Michelin star restaurant) and Bistro Aubergine, both serve great food and of course sensational local Rose!

Maison Bru Route d'Orgon is a two-Michelin star restaurant within walking distance from the hotel at 13810 Eygalières, 15 minutes away (there aren't many cabs around). Maison Bru looks somewhat like a British national park visitor centre from the outside, however the hushed tones of the modern interior made for a very relaxing dining experience. The food, whilst pricey, was an amazing mixture of flavours and textures, well worth the walk.

Give Orgon a miss and go straight to Eygalières, a charming village just 7 km away from the Mas de la Rose. There is a nice wine bar with great tapas/light bites and locals coming to have a drink. The "douceur sucrée" café on the middle of the main street has good pancakes, pasta and ice-cream, perfect for children. Aubergine is a very nice restaurant and you need to be booked in.  Café Bru is probably very good but we haven't tried it. Maison Bru is very close to Le Mas de la Rose (on the road to Eygalières) and is a two-star Michelin restaurant.
