Just five minutes from the Paris Eurostar terminal is an achingly hip temple to all things futuristic hidden behind a traditional 19th-century façade: Kube hotel. With multimedia accoutrements, the only ice bar in France and party-friendly lounge cum restaurant, this unique boutique hotel in La Chapelle is on a mission to turn you into one of its distinct tribe of fun-loving, tech-savvy design aficionados.

- Facilities Hi-tech everything: multi-functional, multimedia plasma screens (computer, TV, CD/DVD player), fitness room, DVD/CD library, free WiFi. Rooms also have minibars, digital entry systems and air-conditioning.
- Check-out Midday, but can be flexible on request. Earliest check-in is 3pm.
- Children An extra bed (€75) or cot (free) can be added to some rooms, but this is more of an adult playground.

The Lounge Bar – the electronically bleeping heart of this night-owls' roost – is also where you'll take your breakfast; there's a fantastic menu of bar food, including oysters, miso soup and plates of charcuterie.
- Dress code Geek chic: cool jeans, snazzy trainers, Prada specs.
- Top table Recline in soft square corners downstairs, or hang out on the mezzanine in one of Eero Aarnio's Perspex bubble chairs
- Last orders Breakfast, 7am to noon; dinner, 7–11.30pm; finger food available round the clock. The bar's open till 2am, with lounge tunes to match, so light sleepers might prefer to book a room far away from the bar.

Kube St Tropezalso has one). Reserve a half-hour Grey Goose vodka-slamming session for €38; your fingers will be numb, but you'll feel all warm and fuzzy inside. (Ice Kube is open Wednesdays–Saturdays only.)

All the rooms are light, bright, cleverly designed and tricked out with ultra-modern accessories. Double Kube rooms have rainshower heads. Some of the junior suites have a terrace – and those on higher floors have the best views.
