Old Walls – a two-bedroom, honey-hued cottage on the edge of the Thyme hotel’s estate – is as picturesque a Cotswolds stay as you could wish for. Snuggle up by the log burner in the wooden-beamed living room; rustle up tea and crumpets in the galley kitchen; or stretch out on the superking-size bed in the soft-hued master bedroom. Meanwhile, two- and four-legged Smiths alike will enjoy gambolling in the private walled garden, lined with shrubs and climbing roses. Beside a quiet road in the little village of Southrop, you’re a stone’s throw from country pursuits: the Swan pub, pig-populated farms and the River Leach.
