Beckford’s two adults-only, split-level lodges stand on the site of the Fonthill Estate’s original 19th-century guest accommodation, where Byron, Nelson and Turner once stayed the night (but not together). The lodges are a fifteen-minute stroll from the main hotel, so you can survey pristine views of Wiltshire countryside and Fonthill Lake from the roll-top bath in the mezzanine bedroom (there’s also a shower in the ensuite). Downstairs, a rustic-style living area and kitchen has a wood-burning stove alongside the mod cons (which include Smart TV, internet radio, WiFi, and iPod docks), and a fridge pre-stocked with local produce for breakfast. Each of the two lodges sleeps two, Guests should note that, because of the nearby stud farm, pets have to stay at home.
