John Carruthers
New venturer
With fretful investors and clamouring customers, it’s a brave hi-tech CEO who heedlessly books the designer getaway. But disappear (however briefly) we all must to rejuvenate mind and body – or ultimately pay the price, says John. With a well-honed bias towards colder climes, he rations his travel escapes to occasional tented wilderness, a powder-hound’s quest for the ultimate ski experience and northern hemisphere cities (while Mrs Smith patiently pines for sun-drenched beaches). All of which calls for both nerve and a critical eye for beauty: just what you’d expect from a former photojournalist.
