Helen Ochyra
Jet-set journalist
Although Helen rests her battered suitcase in north London, she gives in to her itchy feet regularly and is more often found on the road than not. She didn’t travel abroad until she was 12 – to Spain on a school trip – but since then she has been to more than 50 countries. Helen speaks Spanish and has been to almost every corner of both the mainland and the islands (the Canaries and Balearics); nothing makes her happier than turning up at the airport, picking up a car and heading out into the sunshine to uncover those places only the locals know. Her work has appeared in The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The Telegraph among many others. She also writes guidebooks for Rough Guides, including, naturally, the Rough Guide to Spain.
