The secluded, sea-facing Four-Bedroom Villas at Samujana are sculpted around dramatic rocks and boulders on verdant Koh Samui, one of Thailand’s most dazzling paradise islands. Each one is set in landscaped tropical gardens and has an infinity pool with an elevated view over the glittering blue bay. The super-social living spaces seamlessly link indoors and outdoors, and there’s a barbecue and full kitchen for family-style cook-ups. The great outdoors is close at hand – head for the zip-line through the jungle, go on an all-terrain-vehicle explorer trip, or snorkel in the coral-laden Hanuman Bay.

First Glance

  • There are five four-bedroom villas to choose from: numbers 3, 8, 15, 17 and 19. They’re similar in style and layout, with sleek architectural lines and fresh-faced contemporary interiors.
  • Villa 3 is in a secluded corner of the estate and has an entrance so dramatic you almost need an announcement: steps lead down through the garden, to reveal the villa and its holy-moley view. This villa also boasts a bay-facing freestanding bath tub, so you can pair a seascape with your soak.
  • Villa 8 is one for nature buffs – its poolside deck wraps around ancient rock formations, and the garden features indigenous trees dating from long, long before you turned up in your swimsuit.
  • Villa 15 is a family’s friend – the expansive lawn is big enough for a kickaround, a game of badminton, or a barbecue under the palms. The eight-seater dining table and sociable wraparound sofa are in the living space, which opens straight onto the pool deck.
  • There are views, and then there are the views at Villa 17. Its elevated position gives it utmost privacy and one of the best spot for ogling on the whole estate.
  • The mighty, four-level Villa 19 has its own gym and yoga pavilion. There are Jacuzzi baths in two of the bedrooms, an underwater sound system in the pool, and a projector screen in the home cinema.
  • All villas have a full-service kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge and freezer with ice machine.

  • Every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a rainfall shower; three of the four rooms also have deep bath tubs.
  • A baby cot (free) can be added on request.
  • An extra full-size bed costs £49.62 a night for an adult, or £24.81 a night for ages 5–12.

  • Every villa has a barbecue area and landscaped tropical gardens.

Grounds

  • Parking space for one car.
  • At the hotel there is a semi-private beach, an all-weather tennis court and a fully-equipped gym.

Location

  • Samujana is 10 minutes by car from Koh Samui’s airport; a one-way transfer is included in all rates. Flights from the UK usually stop off in Hong Kong, while US routes go via China.
  • Our Smith24 team can arrange car hire for you, with pick up at the airport; just mind the pesky tuk-tuks.
  • The sea-legged can board a Koh Samui-bound ferry from Phuket Town or Rassada Pier. The trip takes around three hours.
  • For a day at the beach, take your pick from any of the sheltered strips of white sand along the north east coast of the island; two of the best, Choeng Mon and Chaweng, are a 10-minute walk away.
