Matakauri's largest suites – at around 76 sq m depending on individual layout – offer stunning views of Lake Wakatipu and its surrounding snow-capped mountains. Two Grand Lake View Suites are set within the main lodge, with six more outlying ones. Suites include a luxurious double bedroom with sitting area and adjoining walk-in wardrobe, a generous living room with sofas, fireplace and desk, a large bathroom with bath tub, shower, twin sinks and a separate toilet, and a private deck for soaking up the scenery. This private 465sq m lakeside villa has a large private balcony with an infinity edge hot tub and views of the Remarkables, Cecil and Walter Peak mountain ranges. There’s also an inner courtyard with an alfresco dining table and large sofa. The cottage is decorated in neutral tones throughout and has a spacious living room with cream-coloured sofas and an open fireplace. There’s a separate dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, a study and a guest washroom too. Each of the four suites has a king-size bed (or twins, on request), a private lounge area with sofas and a working fireplace, a private balcony and an ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bath tub, a walk-in shower and twin sinks. There’s also free WiFi, a minibar and a flatscreen TV. An in-villa chef can be arranged on request (for an additional charge).
