Bluebell has Toile de Jouy wallpaper, Emily is in the oldest part of the manor, Mimosa is decorated in florals, Orchid is understated with pretty flower prints and Passion Flower is outfitted in stripes. Botticelli has a mural as a nod to its great namesake and Rouge et Noir is as dramatic as its name implies, with oriental thrones and gold trim. All rooms have courtyard views.

Amethyst is painted shades of purple, Cameo has sweeping views of the countryside, and Hollyhock’s wallpaper and Hyacinth’s beautiful bath tub are both hand painted. These seven ground-floor rooms (around 33sq m) each has a private terrace with views of the manicured gardens. There’s a king-size bed (or twins) in the bedroom, and a marble ensuite with a bath tub and separate shower, free WiFI, and a seating area with an LCD TV, CD and DVD player, iPod dock, safe and writing desk. Crystal is contemporary in shades of cream and taupe. Kiki has a neutral palette with splashes of bright colour. Mon Plaisir is a little more risqué, with female silhouettes emblazoned on its walls, and Dovecote is set in a 15th-century building, spread out over two levels. Snow Queen has a four-poster bed and its purple walls are dotted with snowflake motifs; Vettriano has two original pieces by the eponymous Scottish artist; and Sandalwood is suitably spice hued. An extra bed can be added on request.

There’s a king-size bed (or twins, on request), a separate lounge, sizeable bathroom with a separate bath tub and shower, and a private patio. Each is individually decorated: Jade (influenced by Raymond Blanc’s travels) is decorated in south-east Asian style in shades of green. Lace has a French feel, with black-and-white florals on the walls; Lemongrass is bedecked in dark bamboo and lime-green silk, with a private steam room; and Lavande has a wood-burning fireplace. Up to two extra beds can be added on request, and some suites can interconnect with a One-Bedroom Garden Suite.

These four suites (around 46sq m) are each designed in uniquely lavish style, inspired by Raymond Blanc’s French heritage. They have comfy king-size beds (or twins, on request), a large separate sitting area (with an LCD TV, CD and DVD player, and iPod dock), plus a spacious marble bathroom with a bath tub, separate shower and another TV. There’s also a private garden and terrace. L’Orangerie, decorated in citrus hues, has a heated oak and stone floor; Provence is painted deep purple, with exposed wooden beams; and Opium is Chinese in style, with flashes of scarlet and a stone carving. Blanc de Blanc is a sumptuous (and supremely romantic) white-on-white suite. Up to two extra beds can be added to these suites, and some can connect to a Deluxe Studio Suite.
