Join a Lima fashionista for a tour of artisans’ ateliers and the greatest local galleries in the Peruvian capital’s buzziest neighbourhoods.
You’ll visit Mario Testino’s townhouse-set MATE museum, which holds his series on traditional Andean clothing; as well as Amano, a fabric fan’s heaven with several millennia’s worth of materials. Artisans will open their atelier doors so you can learn the skill of how to knit as you see and shop their wares, and you’ll stop for lunch as and when you like it at one of the city’s top eateries.
Lima fashion expert
Bronwen Griffith has worked in Lima’s fashion industry for nearly two decades, beginning as the founder of Cadena, South America’s first luxury-fabric store, and more recently advising Mario Testino on his MATE museum. She helps out with Lima Fashion Week, picking projects that she hopes will encourage social, cultural and economic development in Peru. Bronwen was educated in the UK, but lives in Lima (and helpfully speaks both Spanish and English).
Get those sols ready for a splurge with a trip to Lima’s artisanal ateliers, fashionista-favoured boutiques and greatest neighbourhood galleries.
