Get ready for mind-blowing visuals and ‘hmm’-eliciting concepts as top curator Natasha Schlesinger opens your eyes to the galleries of New York’s edgiest corner.
Since the late Eighties, the city’s Chelsea neighbourhood has been the beating heart of the art scene, with hundreds of galleries to hop between (including big-shot spaces such as the Gagosian and David Zwirner). All-round art authority Natasha pulls out the area’s finer points to plot a course through its most eye-opening shows.
Founder of ArtMuse – a flourishing consulting and advisory service to help both collectors and artists – Natasha’s seen the art world from all sides: working in London and New York galleries, specialising in European furniture and decorative arts at Christie’s NYC, and lecturing, teaching and giving talks at venerable institutions (Sotheby’s, Cooper-Hewitt Museum, the New School). She’s a proven talent in curating, behind three successful exhibitions at the Surrey Hotel, a multimedia show at Winston Wachter Fine Art and annual curation for the Baryshnikov Arts Center benefit. Further cementing her punditry, she holds a Future Leaders of the Art World award and launched the Discover Galleries app.
