When to go

The summers are balmy and humid at around 25 to 30 degrees – the perfect weather for a day at the races at the Saratoga Race Course or exploring the forest-clad mountains. Visit in autumn to see the trees turn a fiery shade of red and snow start to fall on the tips of the mountain tops. Temperatures stay in the high teens until mid-October when they start to drop; it often dips below freezing by mid-November, not rising until March.

    Albany Airport is a swift 40-minute drive away and is served by most cities in the US.     Saratoga Springs station is a mid-line stop on Amtrak’s ‘Adirondack’ service between New York City and Montreal: it’s about a five-hour journey to either city.
  • Automobiles

    Your own set of wheels is needed to properly explore the surrounding countryside. Saratoga Springs sits on Route 87 and is easily reachable from most nearby cities; Albany is 40 minutes away, and New York, Boston and Montreal are all roughly three hours away by car. It’s around a 90-minute drive to the Green Mountain and Finger Lakes in the west, the eastern Shaker Mountain Wild Forest and the Adirondack Mountains in the north.
