Luxury holidays in Buena Vista

Blessed with many of the good views its name suggests, Buena Vista is as photogenic as the rest of Colorado. Adventure awaits at any given time of the year, whether you want to raft down the Arkansas River, hike or bike through the Rocky Mountains, or just enjoy those buena vistas from your hotel. The charming town itself (home to breweries and cute boutiques) is easily walkable, though you won’t be on two feet for long, since oar-wielding is the preferred way to get around here. Other Buena Vista-approved accoutrements include snowshoes and kayaks.

When to go

As with most mountainous parts of the world, the activities rotate with the seasons, but there’s always some heart-rate-increasing on offer, whether you want to snowshoe in winter or cycle in summer.

Getting there

  • Planes

Denver International is the region’s main air hub, two-and-a-half hours by car north of Buena Vista. To the east, Colorado Springs also has an airport, served by domestic flights.
  • Automobiles

If you want to stick to kayaks, rafts and your own legs, you won’t need wheels for strolling around small-town Buena Vista – but if you’re planning to explore more of Colorado, a car is a must.
