Luxury holidays in East Hampton
The Puritan farmers and fishermen who settled in East Hampton would hardly recognise it today: a buzzing summer resort, all about good food, shopping and beaches. Pretty as a picture Albert’s Landing beach is divided into ‘Big’ – cormorant-dotted and sea-facing – and ‘Little’ – a crab-filled and boulder-lined tidal estuary. Georgica and Wiborg beaches are popular with surfers, and Main Beach is a favourite with all types of beachgoers. In town, enjoy fresh fish and crabs with a glass of local wine, or catch a show Guild Hall.
When to go
As standard with any vacational playground, summer sun will bring the crowds – on holiday weekends such as Memorial Day or 4 July you could spend more time stuck behind your wheel than on the beach. Your social calendar’s likely to have a bit more glitter during these months, though. The chilly Atlantic waters mean winters do get cold – but you’ll be bundled up by a wood-burning fireplace.
