The two suites – named Great Abel after the Town Hall’s bell, and Alfred Waterhouse after the Gothic revival architect who built the hall – have sweeping views of Manchester’s rooftops and spires from floor-to-ceiling windows in the bedroom and separate living room. The freestanding bath tub in the bedroom sits by the window, so you can gaze on the Town Hall’s clock tower as you soak. The decor is brightened with flashes of teal velvet, boldly patterned cushions and quirky furnishings, such as a stool made from a bear sculpture. The super king-size bed is perfect for snoozing, and there’s a flatscreen in each room. The metro-tiled bathroom, with intricately patterned flooring, has a large walk-in shower with a seat, and twin sinks. Suites have a mini chess set, coffee-table tomes, a Roberts radio, free WiFi, coffee machine, minibar, butler tray with teas and fresh milk and Espa toiletries.
