When to go

Spring and summer have the sunniest days and warmest nights, but visiting in winter is worthwhile for the wildlife (you might spot elephant seals and humpback whales).

Getting there

  • Planes

    Both Los Angeles and San Francisco’s international airports are three-and-a-half hours away by car.

  • Trains

    San Luis Obispo’s train station is a 20-minute drive from Cayucos. Amtrak runs several rail services daily between SLO and Santa Barbara (less than three hours away) and Los Angeles (six hours).

  • Automobiles

    A car is the quickest way to get around and if you’re travelling from Los Angeles, routes should take you through the Santa Ynez Valley, which is a worthy pitstop. Morros Bay, Hearst Castle and Cambria are all a short drive from Cayucos, too.
