Just a few miles beyond Marakkech’s maze of a Medina, Villa D sits amid six hectares of sun-dried land just north of the Atlas Mountains. An ochre-hued adobe exterior seamlessly blends with the villa’s umber grounds, where the on-site farm’s resident donkeys laze in the afternoon sun; but step inside and you’ll find striking steel accent walls, softened by traditional Berber rugs and modern leather furnishings spread over 10 bedrooms. After exploring city and country, sip mint tea or shots of figgy Mahia by the pool until staff light the lanterns, let little Smiths help in-house Chef Houriya pick garden-fresh vegetables for your evening meal, to be enjoyed with belly dancers or Gnawa musicians (on request).

First Glance

  • This spacious seven-bedroom villa has stark minimalist interiors and an ochre-toned exterior that matches Marrakech’s Moorish architecture.
  • Located along the road to Ouarzazate, a little beyond the city’s bustling centre, the villa is surrounded by six hectares of cacti-lined land overlooking the Atlas Mountains. All tailored-to-you meals, prepared by Houriya – your resident cook – are prepared using the garden’s seasonal produce (even the honey and olive oil are made on site).
  • In the centre of the garden, you’ll also find a traditional hammam, a 25-metre infinity pool, alfresco dining spaces, and hammocks strung between palm trees.
  • Interiors feature terracotta walls and natural tones contrasted with steel accents. Plus there are elongated windows, contemporary furnishings and local handicrafts.
  • Each of the bedrooms and suites follow an open-plan design, with king-size beds, lots of natural light, and direct access to outdoor spaces.
  • The two living rooms have statement glass-fronted fireplaces, sleek leather sofas, traditional Moroccan rugs and handcrafted vases. The villa also has a lounge with a small library, TV room and dining room.
  • There’s also a yoga pavilion and spa with a massage room, shower and relaxation space with a fireplace and bath.
