Finca Tomas in Ibiza is a beautifully renovated 18th-century farmhouse that’s perfectly set up for family holidays. The sprawling grounds are filled with lavender bushes, olive trees and towering pines; there’s a glittering rectangular pool flanked by sunloungers and a dedicated play area for little Smiths in the back garden with a swing set, slide and sandpit. This five-bedroom villa is split across two buildings: the main house – home to two bedrooms, the modern farmhouse-style kitchen, dining and lounge spaces – and a casita with three bedrooms. The two are connected by a sun-dappled courtyard and there are two alfresco dining tables – one in the back garden and a second that’s perfectly positioned for sipping sundowners while the tykes scramble ‘round the playground.

  • This revamped 18th-century farmhouse is split into two parts – the main house and the casita – linked by the courtyard.
  • It’s decorated in an earthy colour palette, with a sandblasted sabina wood ceiling and furniture sourced from Bali, India and Morocco.
  • On the upper level of this split-level stay there’s cosy lounge with a built-in sofa and a TV.
  • On the ground floor there are cosy sofas, a dining area with a table for eight and a bright, modern farmhouse style kitchen with a Smeg cooker, Nespresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, two fridges and a breakfast counter. The decorative tile adds a splash of cheery colour to the room.
  • The casita is a double story tower that was once the farm’s mill; it has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
  • There’s a washer and dryer in the walk-in pantry.

  • Spacious Bedroom 1 has a double bed and two entrances (one is through Bedroom 2); this 30sq m master bedroom has a king-size bed and shares a bathroom with a bath tub and shower with Bedroom 2.
  • The 15sq m Bedroom 2 works well for younger children: it has twin beds and shares a bathroom with the master bedroom.
  • Bedrooms 3, 4 and 5 are in the casita and have no direct access to the main villa.
  • Ground-floor 25sq m Bedroom 3 has wood ceilings, a double bed (or twins, on request) and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower.
  • Bedroom 4 (15sq m) is on the upper level of the casita and has twin beds and a wardrobe. It shares a bathroom – with volcanic stone sinks, a large walk-in shower, freestanding stone bath tub, stone pebble floor and sandblasted beams – with Bedroom 5.
  • Bedroom 5 (25sq m) has a canopy-draped double bed and shares a large bathroom with volcanic stone sinks, a large walk-in shower, freestanding stone bath tub, stone pebble floor and sandblasted beams with Bedroom 4.

  • There are two outdoor dining areas – one is covered and looks out over the pool and the second faces the back garden and is draped with fairy lights.
  • The outdoor playground is sheltered under two shady pine trees; there’s a treehouse, swing set, trampoline, sandpit, slide, water shoot game and a table tennis table.
  • There’s onsite parking for six cars, split across two levels.

  • Finca Tomas is in a small cluster of pine-forest surrounded properties in the hills between San Rafael and San Antonio.
  • Ibiza Town is 15 minutes away by car and the airport is 20 minutes away by car.
