Crowning jewel

Sparkling estate

Overlooking the Stellenbosch Valley, the Delaire Graff Owner’s Villa is the pinnacle of the Delaire Graff Estate, sporting interiors by David Collins Studio and artwork from Laurence Graff’s personal collection. Built for the king of diamonds himself, the four-bedroom villa reads like an ode to African artistry, filled with paintings, sculpture and photographs by some of the continent’s brightest stars. The double-height, window-walled living room creates an impressive frame for the works on show, but the inviting furnishings and bronze-encased fireplace ensure it feels every inch a home. Outside, a mosaic-tiled infinity pool commands views across the vineyards and Cape Wineland hills, and the terrace is strewn with teak chairs angled to get the best of the sunset.

  • Overlooked by an impressive sculpture, the entrance hall leads into the light-flooded living and dining room, which has a six-and-a-half-metre-high ceiling slatted with 200-year-old oak trusses. Floor-to-ceiling windows run the length of the room, commanding sweeping views of the estate vineyards and surrounding mountains.
  • The living and dining areas are separated by a double-sided fireplace clad in bronze.
  • The Assirelli-designed kitchen has top-of-the-range Gaggenau appliances, a central island and worktops in flamed local granite. It can be staffed by a private chef on request.
