One for the water babies, Como Shambhala’s Two-Bedroom Pool Retreat is a treetop hideout with a jungle-surveying Jacuzzi and infinity pool. Stuff your suitcase with swimwear as you’ll spend most of your time submerged or sunbathing poolside; however, the resort has plenty of lures to reel you in with: world-class spa pampering, healthful Ayurvedic-influenced dining in its two restaurants, and adventures that are by turns cultural, spiritual and high-octane in nature – and by nature we mean a soothing sea of Balinese greenery. Back in your pool, ask your (provided) personal assistant to crack open the champagne, and sip and soak. Water are you waiting for? Dive straight in.

  • This villa has two bedrooms, both with an ensuite bathroom.
  • The master bedroom is located on the upper floor of the villa. Set in a traditional Balinese structure with wooden walls and a thatched roof, this room has a four-poster king-size bed, a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with both an indoor and outdoor shower, and a large freestanding bath tub with views over the pool and jungle beyond.
  • There’s a second bedroom on the lower floor with either a four-poster king-size bed or twins for two guests (US$25 a person each night, including breakfast). This room is accessed separately and has a walk-in wardrobe and an ensuite bathroom with a shower.
  • A fifth guest can sleep on an extra bed for US$125 a night, including breakfast.

  • Floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the master bedroom lead directly out to the terrace.
  • The second bedroom has sliding glass doors that open onto a private wrap-around balcony overlooking the jungle; there’s a table and chairs for alfresco drinks.
