Stone-built Cycladic

Aegean genie

The Greece you’ve fantasised about exists: it’s on Paros, whose relative lack of crowds and rustic charm is reflected at the seemingly remote Acron Villas – even though it’s just a few minutes from Kolympithres and Monastiri beaches. Acron Villas Cobalt Four-Bedroom Deluxe Villa commands a peerless vantage over the Aegean from each of its three whitewashed and stone-built storeys, as well as from its spacious pool terrace. One of the island’s main hubs, Naoussa, is five kilometres away; everything you need, though, is right here.

First Glance

  • A three-storey villa (173sq m) in a secluded setting on the Acron Villas estate.
  • Interiors are a tasteful combo of polished concrete floors and worktops, untreated wood and wicker.
  • The ground level is open-plan, encompassing a modern, well-equipped kitchen (with an electric oven, ceramic hobs, coffee-maker, dishwasher, fridge and washing machine) and that enviable pool terrace.

Villa highlights

  • Uninterrupted Aegean views
  • Open-plan space
  • Cycladic architecture

Sleeping arrangements

  • The first floor has two master bedrooms, each with a queen-size bed, one slightly smaller bedroom with twin beds, and two bathrooms.
  • The second floor features a master bedroom with a queen-size bed, plus a bathroom with a shower.
  • Even though Acron Villas is listing this as a four-bedroom property, there is actually a fifth, smaller room on the first floor with a single bed.

Key kit

  • Free WiFi.
  • Air-conditioning.
  • Korres bath products.
  • Iron and ironing board.
  • Hairdryer.
  • Smart TV.
  • Daily villa and pool cleaning.

  • The 30sq m pool is the centrepiece of the open-plan ground level.
  • It’s surrounded by sunloungers with enviable views of the village of Naoussa and the Aegean.

  • The terrain circling the hotel is wild and unkempt, lending the villas a rustic feel. Everything is centred on the immaculate pool area here – and those sea views, of course.
  • The location is good for waking early to go hill running or walking against a backdrop of shimmering Aegean Sea.

  • The villa is located on the sheltered northern shore of Paros, overlooking the Cycladic island’s most scenic beach, Kolymbithres – famed for its million-year-old granite rock formations. To seek out shade during a day on the sand, head to beach bar and restaurant Paros on the Rocks.
  • The fishing village of Naoussa is along the bay, 5km away. Corner café Sousouro is a great place for fresh smoothies, power breakfasts and punchy craft cocktails. Another great bet is seafood-serving Ouzeri Mitsi – one of the oldest tavernas on the island – which serves up local wines and the day’s catch on the sand of Naoussa’s Agios Dimitrios cove.
  • For a formal dinner one night, head over to our nearby island neighbour, Parilio Hotel.
  • Monastiri is another popular beach, further around the bay to the north of Acron Villas, with a great sandside restaurant. Here you’ll also find 800-acre Paros Park, with its walking trails and open-air cinema set in a stone, sea-facing amphitheatre.
  • On the east coast, Chrissi Akti or ‘Golden Beach’ is a renowned windsurfing spot.
  • Further afield, two of the most photogenic, strollable inland villages are Marpissa and nearby Prodromos, which you can link up via the Byzantine Road walking route.
  • The airport in Paros, which you can reach via Athens, is a 30-minute drive away. However, many people arrive via ferry from Athens, Santorini or Mykonos to the port town of Parikia. Once there, you can also hop on to other Cycladic isles, such as larger Naxos and little Antiparos.
