Formerly a watch post for centurions, this unique two-storey villa sits on the footpath between Oia and Thira. There’s breathtaking caldera views from balconies on each level, which can be enjoyed from a private plunge pool; and interiors are luxurious with two bedrooms, three bathrooms (one with a stone tub the size of a small swimming pool), and a living room. Furnishings are antique or upcycled, walls are white and decorative chunks of natural rock, candles and splashes of colour (a Missoni throw here, a weathered antique sideboard there) add plenty of character. Up to six guests can stay here, and the suite has a flatscreen TV, pre-loaded iPod and dock, Nespresso coffee machine, free WiFi, kettle with a selection of teas, free bottled water, air-conditioning and Korres bath products.
