Perugian palace

High-rolling hills

The aptly named Palazzo, within the Castello di Reschio estate, is an Italianate villa with palatially proportioned rooms, vaulted ceilings, hand-painted wallpaper and terracotta tiles. There’s a parterre, loggia and heated infinity pool, with far-ranging views of the undulating Umbrian countryside. And it keeps getting better: modern touches include glossy surfaces, hi-tech kit and an impressive gym, as well as a wine cellar, tennis court and billiard room. There are plenty of alfresco dining areas to admire the pastoral perch – but there’s lots to admire inside, too, including a cantilevered travertine staircase in the tower.
