The Algarve isn’t just for August: cosy up in Casa da Rocha’s winter lounge (complete with built-in fireplace) with a glass of local port in hand, or in spring and summer, stretch out on a pool-side lounger overlooking the Atlantic. There are five bedrooms (three with ensuite bathrooms), a fully equipped kitchen, basement pantry and wine cellar inside this single-storey white-washed casa, and you’ll find beautifully maintained gardens, a centrepiece pool and ocean-facing lawn in the grounds. The tiny Praia dos Beijinhos cove, relatively off the radar for the Algarve, is mere minutes from your doorstep, and there are idyllic beach bars nearby and traditional Portuguese restaurants in town.

First Glance

  • Single-storey casa in a local fishing village, mere steps from the beach.
  • Beautifully maintained grounds with a saltwater swimming pool and shaded terrace facing the Atlantic.
  • Two lounges to cover both seasons: the light and airy summer lounge faces the garden and has a telescope for stargazing; the winter lounge has a huge L-shaped sofa, built-in fireplace and TV.
  • Hyper-modern kitchen with central island with seating and glass doors that open outside to a shaded terrace and dining table. There’s a BBQ too, and anything you can’t find in the kitchen will be in the basement pantry – even the more obscure ice cream makers and air fryers.

  • Alcantarilha train station is a 15 minute drive from the villa, Algoz is a 20 minute drive away.
