Spread out over a set of four structures made by local craftsman, Casa Anderson is a refreshing rainforest-surrounded retreat by the Brazilian coast. At the heart of Bahia’s historic Quadrado, this luxury villa fans out under a canopy of tropical trees in a private garden. Each of the three bedrooms is set in its own bungalow (one a treehouse-style pavilion on stilts), and a fourth, colonial-style building houses the main indoor living area and master kitchen. There’s a gently curving private pool with hydro-massage, plenty of inviting outdoor lounge areas, and an alfresco kitchen with a barbecue, all with views of the rainforest and a soundtrack of chirping monkeys and exotic birds.

Smith Extra

Get this when you book through us:

A bottle of champagne; members staying five nights or more will also get a Smith cocktail each and one free candlelit meal for two on the Quadrado; Goldsmiths receive a Capoeira class with teachers from Capoeira School Sul da Bahia

First Glance

  • Casa Anderson is formed by four standalone pavilions, all built by local craftsmen.
  • Casa Anderson is decorated with antiques, a mix of Brazilian and international artwork, and custom-made furnishings – created from reclaimed materials including fishing boats and sails, handmade ceramics, antique farm equipment, and traditional Pataxó crafts.
  • The main colonial-style structure has sweeping Quadrado views from its veranda and the large picture windows of the open-plan living space and the main kitchen. Hidden glass tiles in the traditional light let in overhead sunlight too.
  • The master kitchen is fully equipped with a stove, oven, refrigerator, espresso machine, blender, toaster, wine fridge, and dishwasher.
  • There are two guest washrooms.
