In Ibiza’s exclusive north, Can Carmen offers a luxe, contemporary retreat close enough to the action but also pleasingly far from it, amid the lush landscape of this quieter quarter. Set on former farmland, the grounds have hung on to their rustic appeal: elderly olive trees make up a big part of the garden’s appeal; the Jacuzzi only adds to it. The villa is almost exclusively white (walls, kitchen units, bedding), with the odd monochrome photographic feature or pristine bit of wooden decking breaking up the colour scheme. The pool is the star of the property, with the kitchen and other rooms arranged to gaze out over it; we especially love the covered outdoor kitchen, dining and snoozing area at the end of it.

  • Can Carmen is in the north of Ibiza, close to the village of San Juan.
  • The road that leads up to it is fully paved (no long and winding caminos here).
  • The closest beach is Benirras, five kilometres away; another option is Cala Xarraca, a small, sandy cove with a restaurant.
  • It’s a 27-kilometre drive to and from the island’s airport.
  • Ibiza Town is 20 kilometres away.
