Remote and rustic with a charming hilltop aspect, Shepherd’s Cottage overlooks the turquoise waters of Pigeon Bay and the spectacular white-capped peaks of the Kaikoura Ranges. Once providing warm respite for Annandale farm’s shepherds, the cosy cabin has been given a luxe update: sheepskin throws adorn the cream-coloured living room, the bedroom has a comfy king-size bed under the eaves, and outdoors, the alfresco bath tub beckons – it’s surrounded by foliage to spare the blushes of grazing cattle. On chilly evenings, curl up by the roaring fire with a glass of local red and soak up the inspiring Pacific vistas from your window; if you can’t sleep, there’s plenty of nearby sheep to count.
