Annandale’s Seascape villa is so far removed from the day-to-day, that a helicopter is required to reach it (yes, you could also arrive by four-wheel drive, but we’ll take the chopper please…). Nestled between two hills at the tip of Pigeon Bay, and hidden in the hillside – camouflaged by a turf roof – this stone-and-glass stay’s window walls overlook Pegasus Bay out to the Pacific beyond. Modern in style, with rough-stone walls and sleek wood and concrete finishes, you’re in your own little world here, with nothing between you and the deep-blue bay. Dance on your deck, spy frolicking dolphins and seals from your sea-facing bed – curtains are somewhat redundant here – or go au naturel in your open-air spa bath – peace at last…

First Glance

  • Built using rough stone, concrete and black metal, and a generous 176sq m in size, Seascape’s style is a polished version of its surroundings. Walls of windows overlook the sea, hills and rocky outcrops, to the Pacific beyond.
  • The villa’s all laid out on one level. The living room has glass walls and gloriously wild views. Admire these from a hanging, sheepskin-lined, Eero Aarnio-style bubble chair or the comfy grey sofa – both kept toasty by a modern fireplace.
  • To the side of the open-plan living room is a full kitchen, a sleek modern steel suite with all you need to cook up a feast for two or uncork a bottle of wine (an oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, kettle, Nespresso coffee-machine, grill, glassware, crockery, cookware and cutlery). There’s a table and two chairs to dine at, too.
  • The bathroom leads off from the bedroom and has a natural-stone feature wall and sleek, polished concrete floors. There’s a modern shower at one side and a bath tub big enough for two in the centre.
  • There’s a storage room and a cupboard to store suitcases in.

Villa highlights

  • Out-of-this-world location
  • Guaranteed seclusion
  • Modernist design

Sleeping arrangements

  • There’s only one bedroom. The super-king-size bed is the focal point of the villa. Set on a raised dais behind the living room, it’s placed so that you can watch all the natural wonders occur without having to lift your head from the pillow. There’s a rough-stone feature wall to one side and a small skylight above.
