Setting

Between the sea and sky

From its lofty perch on the craggy cliffs of Little Bay, Ani Anguilla surveys its kingdom: landscaped gardens in bougainvillaean bloom, sun-baked wooden decks dotted with loungers and a furl of sandy coves take pride of place before a sweeping stretch of Caribbean blue. They’ve thought of everything at this private family residence spread across two airy villas. Dining is where and when you’d like, with a customised menu to meet your preferences, and should you tire of hopping between the dual infinity pools and rock-nestled hot tubs, there’s a roster of tailored romps to indulge in – explore the coast on mountain bikes, cruise the island at sunset, stage your own private party (yes, they’ll provide the DJ) or get cosy for a moonlit movie night amidst some Oscar-worthy ocean views.

First Glance

  • Fuchsia-lined gardens surround the three-storey villa.
  • Open terrace views overlooking Anguilla’s cyan-cast Little Beach Bay.
  • Indoor-outdoor design with sliding doors opening out onto the swimming pool and gardens.
  • There’s no fixed restaurant as such, rather, dining space can be set up just about anywhere you want. In keeping with the resort’s tailormade ethos, guests will be consulted ahead of time about their gastronomic preferences and dietary requirements, from which head chef Karan Kumar will devise personalised menus for throughout your stay.
  • A beachside barbecue lunch is also included once per booking; a day of wining and dining on Shoal Bay. They’ll even bring kayaks, snorkelling equipment and stand-up paddle boards to keep the little ones entertained in between courses.
  • Floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors lead directly to the pool, but much like meals, drinks can be taken anywhere. There’s a selection of wine, beer and cocktails on offer – of which the signature rum punch is a must (when in Rome…) – as well as rum tasting sessions and mixology classes.

Location

  • Occupying an independent stretch of craggy cliffside, Ani Anguilla is tucked away on the rugged north side of the island and surrounded by secret, secluded beauty spots.
  • For those travelling from the UK and USA, Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) is a 10-minute drive from the resort, served by British Airways and American Airlines who run connecting flights from most major cities. Alternatively, fly into the neighbouring Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) on Sint Maarten. The resort can arrange roundtrip transfers from either location; by car or shared shuttle boat transfer, respectively.
  • There’s a free gated car park on-site for guests, though you’re unlikely to need wheels on this compact little island of just 35 square miles – at least not of the four-wheeled kind. If you plan on exploring, the resort can provide mountain bikes for both adults and children.
  • Private boats can be arranged from Sint Maarten for up to 34 people with rates starting from $708 for a small boat up to $1,888 for the largest.
